In the day's second semifinal, Gettysburg's Nick Purkat scored an extra-man
goal with 11 seconds left in the game off of an assist from Evan Gallant to
give the Bullets (12-3) the win. Dickinson (9-6), which trailed, 9-6,
heading into the fourth quarter, scored five goals in the final period to
tie the score twice late in the game.
Gallant led the Bullets with three goals and three assists, while Chase
Stewart scored three goals and Jake Van Nostrand tallied three assists. The
Red Devils got three goals and one assist each from Brian Reed and Drew
Peace in the loss. Pat Vaughn made 13 saves for Gettysburg, while Tom
Wilson tallied 10 for Dickinson. Gettysburg held a 33-29 advantage in
shots, but the Red Devils had a 35-31 edge in ground balls. Dickinson won
17-of-26 face-offs in the loss as Bernie Nolan went 17-of-24 and scooped up
11 ground balls.
Sunday's championship game between Washington and Gettysburg will be played
at Kibler Field and is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
