| MEDFORD ^S Tufts University defeated Gordon College, 17-3, this afternoon
in a non-league Men^Ys Lacrosse match-up on Zimman Field in Medford. The
game was originally scheduled to be played at Gordon, but a soggy field
forced the game to be moved to Tufts and the Jumbos took full advantage
of the change.
Tufts stormed out to a 6-0 first quarter lead and never looked back. Tufts also outscored the Scots 6-0 in the third quarter. The Tufts offense was led by sophomore Bryan Griffin (West Islip, NY), who tallied four goals and added two assists, many of the spectacular nature. Junior Matt Malatesta (Winchester, MA) also tallied a hat trick with three goals of his own. Senior Chris Kollar (Middle Island, NY) and sophomore transfer David Taylor (Burke, VA) both added two goals and two assists. The Jumbo defense stymied the Fighting Scots the entire game, allowing no goals in the first and third quarters and only 23 shots total. Tufts goalies Luke Chicco (Merrick, NY) and Mike Terrasi (Franklin Square, NY) played one half each, with Chicco earning the win and making six saves in the first. Terrasi stopped seven balls in the second. Leading scorer Pete Chapman (Sewickly, PA) scored twice for the Scots. Jeremy Collins (Long Island, NY) had 10 saves in goal. Tufts hosts the Trinity College Bantams in their NESCAC opener on Saturday as the Scots travel to Babson College to take on the Beavers. |
