| TOWSON, MD - Despite a 41-29 advantage in shots, Goucher suffered its fourth
one-goal loss of the season today. A goal by Brandon Harker with 3:52 remaining
in the fourth quarter snapped a 4-4 tie and provided Greensboro with a 5-4
victory before a Gopher Stadium crowd of 281.
Corey Reina was huge in goal for the Pride (7-6) as he finished with 18 saves. The teams were never separated by more than a goal until Nick Harness picked up his fourth assist of the day on a goal by Brian Leppert that provided Greensboro with a 4-2 lead with 5:27 remaining in the third quarter. Matt Wilson (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) scored his second goal of the game with 2:14 left in the period as Goucher closed to within 4-3 heading into the final 15:00. Early in the fourth quarter, seconds after stopping the Pride from scoring with a three-man advantage because of Goucher penalities, the Gophers pulled even at 4-4 on a goal by Ian Montgomery (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall). It was the sophomore attackman's team-leading 30th goal of the season. For the day, Greensboro was 0-for-6 on extra-man opportunities. Reeves Craig (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) made eight saves in goal for the Gophers. |
