Lycoming vs. Messiah

The Game Story:
WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Lycoming College men's lacrosse team hosted Messiah College, Wednesday afternoon, in a semifinal contest of the Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs. The Warriors took an early lead and never looked back behind a strong defensive performance en route to a 13-7 victory. With the win, Lycoming advances to the MAC Championship game for the second consecutive year. They will travel to Widener University on Saturday afternoon for the title game.

The Warriors scored the game's first three goals to jump ahead of the Falcons early. They continued to pour it on, scoring four unanswered goals in the second quarter to carry a 7-1 advantage into the half. Messiah tallied the first goal of the third period, but Lycoming was still able to extend their lead, outscoring the Falcons 3-2 in the quarter. The Warriors put the game out of reach with a pair of goals just 17 seconds apart early in the fourth making the score 12-3. Messiah attempted one final comeback with four consecutive goals late in the contest but another goal by Lycoming and a short clock sealed the Falcons' fate.

Dan Wilcox (So./Corning, NY; Corning-Painted Post East) led the Warriors with three goals and two assists. Sang Duong (So./Havertown, PA; Haverford) added two goals and two assists. Dave Dormond (So./Bryn Mawr, PA; Haverford) also scored twice while recording one assist. Six other Lycoming players tallied one goal.

Sean Powers (So./Drexel Hill, PA; Monsignor) made 10 saves in goal for the Warriors.

Lycoming improves to 12-4 overall with the win. Messiah's season comes to a close with a mark of 8-7.
