The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Alfred scored the first goal of the game Wednesday before Nazareth rattled off 13 straight goals as the Golden Flyers defeated the Saxons in men's lacrosse, 14-3, at Golden Flyer Stadium.

Nazareth improved its overall record to 7-5 and its Empire 8 Conference record to 4-3. The Golden Flyers are tied for fourth place in the conference standings and need a win Saturday at home against RIT to clinch a berth in the upcoming E8 Tournament. Stevens is first at 6-1, followed by Ithaca at 5-1 and RIT at 5-2. Nazareth and St. John Fisher each have 4-3 records, but Nazareth holds the tiebreaker advantage based on a 7-6 win over the Cardinals last week. Fisher hosts Utica Saturday.

Against Alfred, Nazareth scored five times in the first quarter and four more times in the second to take control in the first 30 minutes. Nazareth extended its lead to 13-1 after three quarters. Sophomore attackman Erinn O'Hara (Camillus, NY) scored two goals and added a career-high five assists to pace the offense. Senior midfielder Aaron Civalier (Penfield/Rochester, NY) added three goals and one assist and sophomore attackman Mark DeCirce (Binghamton, NY) contributed two goals and two assists.

Nazareth had a commanding 51-26 advantage in shots and scored three times in extra-man situations. After Alfred's Jeremy Florence scored an unassisted goal just 25 seconds into the game, Nazareth countered with goals by Civalier and Matt Aloi (Jamesville, NY) to secure the lead for good. DeCirce added both of his goals and O'Hara added his first goal of the game before the quarter expired.

Freshman midfielder Scott Castle (Skaneateles, NY) scored for Nazareth in the second quarter as did Civalier, O'Hara and junior Alex Cole (Cincinnati, OH). Senior attackman Steve Cutia (Cortland, NY) added two goals in the second half, while Civalier, Doug Milano-Johnson (Pittsford Mendon/Pittsford, NY) and Joe Jacobs-Ferderbar (Orchard Park, NY) also scored.

Sophomore Todd Dermody (Newfield HS/Sleden, NY) played the first 37 minutes in goal and made five saves. Senior Anthony Desimone (IHC/Clayton, NY) played the last 23 minutes and had four saves.
