Lacrosse Rolls Past SUNYIT, 25-1

The lacrosse team dominated SUNYIT from the opening whistle and ran past the Wildcats, 25-1, April 12 in Plattsburgh, NY. Plattsburgh’s Garrett Cree scored his first of four goals unassisted just 22 seconds into the game, and the outcome was never in doubt from that point on, as the Cardinals held a 9-0 lead after the first quarter and a 16-0 lead at halftime.

PSU led 17-0 when SUNYIT’s Pat Amidon scored at the 7:32 mark of the third quarter to ruin the shutout.

Plattsburgh State has outscored SUNYIT 54-2 in the last two meetings between the teams and has won four straight in the series.

In addition to Cree, Adam Lockley led Plattsburgh in scoring with five goals and two assists. Jordan Thompson had three goals and four assists. Mike Haniuk scored three goals and added three assists, while Jason Lappies scored one goal and tallied four assists.

The Cards outshot SUNYIT 71-9.

Chris Jones earned the victory in the Cardinal nets, not allowing a goal in one quarter of play. Dan Gorman surrendered the lone SUNYIT goal.

David Kennedy took the loss for SUNYIT, making 33 saves.

Plattsburgh will host SUNYAC foe Oneonta April 14 at 3:30 pm.
