The Game Story:
ASHLAND, Va. – The Washington and Lee men’s lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-0 halftime lead en route to a 14-3 victory at Randolph-Macon in ODAC action on Saturday afternoon.

The Generals (7-4, 3-0) scored four goals in each of the first two quarters led by a pair of first-half scores from senior attackman Ned Rider (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Collegiate).

Randolph-Macon (5-5, 1-3) got on the board with 8:50 left in the third quarter on a goal by sophomore midfielder Billy Rowe to cut it to an 8-1 game, but the Generals responded with a pair of goals to push out to a 10-1 lead with 5:07 left in the third period in posting the 11-goal victory.

Senior attackman Will Englehart (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) paced the W&L offense with three goals, while junior midfielder Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) notched two goals and one assist. Rider and junior midfielder Seth Fishman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford) added two goals each. Freshman defender Austin Wernecke (Lutherville, Md./Boys’ Latin) notched six ground balls as the defensive unit allowed the Yellow Jackets just 16 shots on the day. Junior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes) and freshmen Jason Lumpkin (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) and Ned Lundvall (Richmond, Va./Gilman) all played in goal, combining to make 10 saves.

Rowe led the Yellow Jackets with two goals, while senior attackman Peter LaPaglia notched the third tally. Freshmen Adam Liberto and Ray Wodarski both saw time in goal and recorded 19 saves between them.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Lynchburg College for a 7:00 pm contest.
