Shenandoah vs. Marymount
March 15, 2005
The Game Story:
WINCHESTER, Va. - Marymount University used a strong second quarter Tuesday afternoon to pull out a 9-3 men's lacrosse victory over host Shenandoah University.

Marymount (2-5) scored all four of the second quarter goals to break a 1-1 tie. Shenandoah (1-1) would get no closer than four goals the rest of the way.

MU continued its scoring run into the second half; the Saints eventually led 6-1 before the Hornets snapped a nearly 39 minute scoreless streak with a Stephen Mayor goal at the 14:24 mark of the fourth.

Mayor also scored the final goal of the game for SU - he made it 7-3 in favor of Marymount with an unassisted tally at the 7:28 mark. Unfortunately for the Hornets, the Saints erased any thoughts of a Shenandoah comeback with the final two goals of the contest.

Ryan Orzech, Brandon Nemes, Jason Mehrtens and Josh Sutherland all had two goals for the visitors. Orezch chipped in one assist for a game high three points.

Mayor led the Hornets with two goals while Paul Evancoe had one. Freshman Mark Verilli made 17 saves after coming into the game with just over five minutes to play in the first half.
