| (March 13, 2002)-Sophomore attack Josh Feine scored six goals and had two assists
to lead the St. Lawrence University men?s lacrosse team to a 14-4 win over
Plattsburgh, improving the Saints record to 2-0 on the season. Saints junior goalie
Stephen Salotti was solid in net, making 17 saves. Two other Saints had hat tricks in
the game, Tim Loveless had three goals and two assists and Peter Dolan had three
goals.
St. Lawrence scored five unanswered goals in the first quarter, as Dolan got things started quickly scoring just 32 seconds into the game. Dolan sandwiched a goal between two Feine scores before Loveless tallied a goal with just under five minutes left in the quarter. Jason Lappies, who had a goal and an assist in the game, answered for Plattsburgh with 4:00 left in the first quarter. However, the Saints came back with five more unanswered goals, three from Feine, to take a 10-1 lead after the first half. Plattsburgh tried to mount a comeback scoring two in the third quarter and one in the fourth, but St. Lawrence notched four consecutive to end the game and take the 14-4 victory. Plattsburgh falls to 0-1 with the loss. The Saints? next game is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, as they travel to Rochester, N.Y., to take on Nazareth before heading south for spring break. |
