April 7, 2004
The Game Story:
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.óMarco La Gette's third goal of the night, which came with 4:04 left to play, proved to be the game-winner and goaltender Matt Pendelbury came up with three big saves in the final 21 seconds as Western New England College defeated Union, 10-9, in a non-league men's lacrosse game on Frank Bailey Field.

The victory improved the Golden Bears' record to 6-4 while the Dutchmen, who lost their third one-goal game of the season, fell to 2-7.

The game was a see-saw affair that saw the first three periods end in ties of 2-2, 5-5, and 7-7. Brian Bendjy's goal with 12:17 left to play gave the Dutchmen a short-lived 8-7 advantage before back-to-back tallies by Le Gette and Nick Doherty put the Bears on top, 9-7, with 8:10 remaining. Peter Gross found the back of the net for the fourth time to give the Garnet at 9-9 before La Gette scored what proved to be the game-winner.

Pendelbury stopped 20 of the 29 shots he faced, but none were bigger than the ones that came with 21 seconds, eight seconds, and two seconds remaining.

Union's Will Tamm recorded 16 saves.
