The Game Story:
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman midfielder Harry St. John (Essex Falls, N.J./West Essex) scored a career-high four goals and junior goalkeeper Chris Lalli (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) stopped 15 shots to lead Washington and Lee to an 11-5 win over Virginia Wesleyan in ODAC men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.

St. John broke a 2-2 tie with 3:50 left in the first quarter as he scored off an assist from freshman attackman Tim Skeen (Baltimore, Md./Towson). The goal was the first in a three-goal run that gave the Generals a 5-2 lead early in the second quarter. The Marlins (8-4, 1-3) countered with a man-up goal by sophomore attackman Brett Morris (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) off an assist from senior attackman Dan Hofmeister (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton Roads) with 6:15 left in the half, but the Generals (8-4, 1-3) ripped off two more goals, including one by St. John, for a 7-3 lead at the break.

Senior midfielder Perrin Monroe (Washington, D.C./Phillips Exeter) scored unassisted 50 seconds into the third period for an 8-3 advantage. The Marlins got on the board again with 13:09 left in the third quarter as sophomore midfielder Drew Smythers (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) scored unassisted, but Lalli recorded six saves in the quarter, including several point-blank stops, to keep the Marlins at bay.

Skeen finished with one goal and three assists, while sophomore attackman Ned Rider (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Collegiate) notched two goals. Monroe added one goal and one assist.

Virginia Wesleyan received single goals from five different players, while sophomore goalkeeper Tom Skartsiaris (Lynnbrook, N.Y./Lynnbrook) stopped 12 shots.
