Will Keigler Will Keigler LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee scored 12 unanswered goals over the second and third periods to post a 13-5 win over York College in men’s lacrosse action on Wednesday evening at the W&L Turf Field. York (1-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the 8:53 mark of the first quarter on goals scored 39 seconds apart by freshman attackman Kalen Rundy (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) and senior attackman Kyle Henninger (Millers, Md./Hereford). However, the 15th-ranked Generals (2-0) bounced back with the 12-goal run that began on goals by sophomore attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) and senior attackman Ned Rider (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Collegiate) that were scored within a span of 17 seconds and knotted the score at 2-2 at the 11:09 mark of the second quarter. W&L ended the half with five more goals, including another for Rider, to assume a 7-2 lead at the break. Keigler posted one goal and two assists in the third period as W&L stretched its lead to 12-2 entering the fourth quarter. Rider posted a team-best three goals, while Keigler notched two goals and three assists. Senior attackman Will Englehart (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) and sophomore midfielder Deets Hoffman (Houston, Texas/St. John’s) added two goals apiece. Junior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes) played the opening 48:45 in goal and posted five saves. He was spelled by junior Alex Heaton (Atlanta, Ga./Lovett), who logged one save in the final 11:15. York had five different players record one goal each. Senior Matt Keeler (Morton, Pa./Ridley) started in goal for the Spartans and notched five saves in 45:10. He was relieved by freshman Chris Collins (Westminster, Md./Westminster), who registered two stops. Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Colorado College for a 1:00 pm contest (Mountain Time). |
