| Etown Gets First Win of Season, 12-3, over Misericordia SCRANTON, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 1-1 overall in 2003 with a 12-3 win over College Misericordia Wednesday. The game was held at the University of Scranton's Astroturf field because conditions at Misericordia's field were inhospitable to play. Matt Newell (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) and Justin McQuaid (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) led Etown in goal scoring with three each. Newell also had an assist to tie for the team lead in points with four. Allen Churchman (Aston, PA/Garnet Valley) also totaled four points with a team high of four assists. Also contributing to the Blue Jays' onslaught were Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford) and Justin Griffey (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen), each of whom scored two goals and contributed one assist. Adam Whitaker (Havertown, PA/Haverford) scored one goal and had one assist, and Dave Eshleman (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) scored a goal. Brian Ginter (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown), Tom Fillippo (Malvern, PA/Great Valley), and Mike Dunn (Upper Darby, PA/Monsignor Bonner) each had one assist for the Blue Jays, and Dunn scooped up a team high of nine ground balls. Brian Burke (Upper Darby, PA/Haverford) minded the net for the first three quarters of the game for Etown and allowed just one goal while making four saves. Elizabethtown out-shot Misericordia 31-12 and held a 15-3 advantage in face-offs. The Blue Jays also totaled 35 ground balls against 18 for Misericordia. Etown will return to action in a game tentatively scheduled to be held on the road against Middle Atlantic Conference rival DeSales at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15. |
