Emerson vs. Daniel Webster
March 25, 2009
The Game Story:
Boston - The Emerson College menís lacrosse team proved to be a rude host to former assistant coach Kyle Devitt as the Lions took an 11-4 decision over Daniel Webster College at Emersonís Rotch Field.

The Lions built a 6-0 halftime lead on goals by four different players including the gameís first two markers by Jake Frank (Sr., Bethany, Conn.). Roger Tower (Jr., Titusville, N.J.) added Emersonís third goal with just eleven seconds left in the opening quarter.

The second period proved more of the same with the Lions getting goals from Joe Greaney (Sr., Medfield, Mass.) in a man-up situation, Axel Larson (So., Westford, Vt.), and Phil Shore (So., Toms river, N.J.) with only eight seconds left on an assist from Greaney.

Daniel Webster opened the second half scoring with an unassisted goal by Mike Jordan (So., Wakefield, Mass.) 5:18 into the third period. Larson answered the Eagle tally 33 second later with his second goal of the game, and Greaney followed with a second man-up score on a feed form Tower.

The next three goals belonged to Daniel Webster as Ryan Manning (Sr., Newport, N.H.) and Noah Smith (Fr., Kurtistown, Hi.) scored to end the third quarter and a Colby Field (Sr., Hollis, N.H.) marker opened the fourth to bring the Eagles to within 8-4. Emerson countered with goals from Larson, Joe Shahood (Jr., Dunstable, Mass.), and a final netter by Frank to produce the final score.

Emerson had the best of every statistical category in the contest, outshooting the Eagles 44-36 and gathering in a dozen more ground balls. The Lions also had a 9-6 face off advantage.

Daniel Webster goalkeeper Tom Driscoll (Fr., South Boston, Mass.) played a strong game for the Eagles making 21 saves. Pat Curran (Fr., Framingham, Mass.) had 15 stops in the victory.

Daniel Webster is next scheduled to play at Norwich on March 31 at 3:00pm. Emerson will host Lyndon State College Saturday at 2:00pm at Rotch Field.
