The Game Story:
CONWAY, Ark. (April 10) -- Hendrix College junior Sam Brisson found the back of the net five times and sophomore David Davis, Jr. netted three goals to lead the Warriors to a hard-fought 14-9 victory over Centre College on Sunday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Hendrix (5-5, 3-2 SCAC) scored six goals in the second quarter to pull away from Centre (3-8, 2-4 SCAC). The Warriors owned a 7-3 advantage at the break and then netted four unanswered goals out of the locker room to own an 11-5 advantage after the third quarter. Centre outscored Hendrix 4-3 in the last 15 minutes to reach the final mark.

Both teams combined for 18 penalties (11-Centre, 7-Hendrix) in a physical conference match-up. Hendrix owned a 42-36 advantage in shots and a 54-37 lead in ground balls. The Warriors beat the Colonels with 14-12 score in faceoffs. Hendrix scored two man-up goals, while both teams were credited with one man-down goal.

Hendrix junior Keith Clemens denied 14 shots in his fifth win of the year. Centre first year Clayton Brown also made 14 saves in his eighth loss.

Warriors’ junior Ben Nelson scored two goals, while seniors Dan Fox, Tim Wojcik, Jeff Appleton and Daniel Abernathy added one goal apiece. Nelson led Hendrix with three assists and Davis made two assists. Abernathy, Appleton, Brisson, Fox, junior James Hanson and senior C.J. Richards all tallied one assist.

The Warriors now hold a 0.5 game lead over Southwestern (3-3) and a 1.5 game lead over Centre (2-4) in the SCAC standings. Hendrix needs to win just one of its last two games to clinch a spot in the SCAC Tournament. The Warriors travel to Colorado College on April 15 and then Southwestern University on April 17.
