hey im looking in to playing goalie and im an okay stringer but i was wandering what are the regualtions for a goalie pocket |
|

yo i had the same problem wene i was a new goalie but there are no regulations. you can make the pocket as deep as you want but you have to consider that if the pocket is deep it will not throw good but it will catch great. it it is shallow it will rebound and not catch well but it will throw great. Try to make your pocket 2 to 2 and a half balls deep. i hoped this helped |

im not tryin to hate but isnt it a little annoying that there are superstars like brendan mundorf that dont have a single piece of there own equipment but some guy in high school has his own set of stringing stuff because of his brothers? |

soft won't do anything for you except create major, unnecessary, whip and in rain your stick will be useless and illegal cause the mesh will stretch so much. hard will keep the shape of the pocket so much better and it will work in all types of weather, you just have to take the time to form the pocket and get the mesh to loosen up a bit (DON'T use conditioner or something to loosen the hard mesh, it'll basically turn the mesh soft and it'll be useless. just take the time to form your pocket) |

i went to a profesional and asked wether soft or hard mesh was better.
soft SUCKS!!!!!!! |

Wether you use hard or soft mesh is all a matter of preference. With hard mesh it is more difficult for an opponent to knock the ball out when your on offense, but it is also MUCH harder to string (especially Six Diamond). Soft mesh puts a lot of whip on the ball, which can really help if you're trying to incapacitate the other goalie. (Yes, it works!) But Soft Mesh also stretches in the rain and will become illegal after only catching the ball once if it's soaked; coupled with the fact that most people play with their sticks on border-line legality, this head will become illegal quickly in the rain. It's all your choice. |

and whip doesn't incapacitate the goalie. If he is a good goalie that is. you can tell where a shot is going by looking at there head if it is going down the ball is its hard to explain but yeah. |

it can be too wide. or put 3 balls in the pocket on top of one another. if you can see the top of the third ball then it's illegal..or just put 12 balls in the pocket and if you can see the top of them then it is also illegal. an official checked my stick at halftime because i was the last coming off the field and they have to check sticks..it was legal but not by much..he asked me to tighten it. |

shaving cream works wonders...it keeps the mesh nice and firm but helps break it in..be sure you stretch your mesh as well though..roll it up and run it under really hot water (as hot as you can get it out of the sink) then stretch it apart..apply shaving cream and let it sit for a minute or two. then do the water and stretch again before you string. perfection. |

|
 | | - macklax1002 3/29/08 reply
if i am not mistaken this is goalie mesh which would explain the ability to hold 15 balls.
|
|
 | | - LeeMLB06pmi 4/03/08 reply
you can get the powell pocket, just make sure that it doesn't say 'goalie' at the top. |

ok the top of the ball cant be below the bottom sidewall. if u can hold 15 in ur pocket n ur not a goalie, u need 2 leard the rules |

if you want a legal attack stick go with mesh that doesnt have the label "goalie" in it. |
|
 | - 999999lax 12/26/06 reply
there is no head this is something called mesh its the strings that go on the head |
|
|
 | - goaliey_man 6/05/03 reply
this head has asome handleing. it also gives u a feeling that an attack would have with the short shaft. |
|
 | | - Andrew17 3/03/08 reply
i dont even play goalie and u need to spell goalie right before you try to pretend to play lax. there is clearly no head here. |
|
 | | | - keeper2 3/12/08 reply
I am going to have to agree, and as a goalie I take major offense to some poser spelling it wrong...anyone who plays GOALIE would know how to spell it...and what head??? |
