NEW HAVEN, Conn. The No. 7/9 Yale University men's lacrosse team held No. 12 Brown scoreless for over 21 minutes to pick up an important 16-10 Ivy League victory. Jeff Cimbalista (New Hope, Pa.) scored four second-half goals for the Bulldogs (8-2, 3-2 Ivy). Conrad Oberbeck (Greenwich, Conn.) and Eric Scott (Basking Ridge, N.J.) added three goals each for the victors, who defeated Brown for the sixth straight time. Brown (8-3, 2-2 Ivy) was led with five goals from Dylan Molloy (Setauket, N.Y.) The visitors, which entered the pivotal Ivy League game, second nationally in points per game (24.70) and scoring offense (15.60), got off to a quick start, scoring three times in the first 2:24. They would only beat Yale goalie Eric Natale (Westminister, Md.) seven times the rest of the beautiful afternoon. The Bears opened the scoring 48 seconds in when Henry Blynn (Villanova, Pa.) sent a Nick Piroli (Black River, N.Y.) feed into the net. Michael Keasey (Newport Beach, Calif.) knotted the game at the 1:31 mark. Molloy the second leading scorer in the nation entering the contest, reeled of a pair of goals nine seconds apart to give the Bears a 3-1 lead. Oberbeck scored his 123rd career goal at the 6:41 mark to cut the lead to one. Molloy completed the hat trick with 6:51 left in the opening period, ripping a Matt Graham (Amityville, N.Y.) dish past Natale. The Bulldogs closed the first quarter with a pair of goals to tie the game at four. Oberbeck cut the Bears' lead to one at the 12:20 mark followed by a Scott man-up goal with 1:34 left. Ben Reeves (Macedon, N.Y.) assisted on both Bulldog strikes. The Elis had the only three strikes of the second period to take a three-goal lead into the locker room. Oberbeck completed the hat trick 56 seconds into the frame. With his tenth three-point game of the spring, the senior passed Brandon Mangan, '14 for sixth place on the career scoring chart. Tyler Warner (Freeport, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal in transition at the 11:49 mark. Brian Pratt (Garden City, N.Y.) assisted on the freshman's rocket past Brown goalie Jack Kelly (West Islip, N.Y.). Reeves scored unassisted with 1:22 remaining to give the Elis the three-goal advantage. The Bulldogs had their ninth clean quarter of the spring in the second, holding the high-powered Brown offense to only four shots on goal. Both teams scored quickly in the second half. Off the opening face-off, Cimbalista finished off a Mark Glicini (Mahwah, N.J.) pass 14 seconds in. Molloy followed with his fourth of the afternoon 12 seconds later. The teams continued to trade goals early in the third. Thirteen seconds after Molloy rocketed home his fifth goal of the day, the Cimbalista from Glicini connection struck again for the hosts. Cimbalista completed the hat trick with 8:56 left in the third. Senior captain Harry Kucharczyk (Manhasset, N.Y.) assisted on the Elis' tenth goal. The Bears scored a pair of goals nine seconds apart to cut the Bulldogs' lead to two. Brendan Caputo (Westbury, N.Y.) grounded a Blynn feed into the net while man-up. Off the ensuing draw, Kylor Bellistri (Potomac, Md.) finished off the Will Gural (Haverford, Pa.) face-off win. Scott broke the visitors run with one second remaining in the third quarter.
