OWSON, Md. Despite getting a career-high seven points on three goals and four assists from junior attack Spencer Parks, the No. 14 Towson men's lacrosse team fell, 15-11, to No. 8 Loyola on Wednesday afternoon at Johnny Unitas Stadium. The loss drops the Tigers to 1-1 while the Greyhounds posted their second straight victory to improve to 2-1 on the year. "We weren't ready from the opening whistle and you can't spot a strong team like Loyola early goals," said Towson Head Coach Shawn Nadelen. "We had some good, a lot of bad, but I'm proud of how our guys showed character and fight and kept the game close at the end." Parks is the first Tiger with seven points in a game since Thomas DeNapoli accomplished the feat against Drexel in 2013. He's the first Tiger with four assists in a contest since Justin Mabus handed out four helpers in a win over Delaware last season. Sophomore attack Joe Seider matched his career high with four goals and added an assist in the loss, while senior Andrew Hodgson tallied a pair of goals for the second straight game. Loyola, which scored the first four goals of the game, took advantage of six Towson turnovers in the first quarter to lead 6-2 after one period of play. The Tigers scored four of the next six goals to get back in the game. Parks' second goal of the day pulled Towson to within 8-6 with 1:34 remaining in the second quarter. The Greyhounds took some momentum into the locker-room though as Tyler Albrecht scored late in the opening half to give Loyola a 9-6 halftime advantage. The Greyhounds would also score the first three goals of the second half and Zach Herreweyers' fifth goal of the game midway through the fourth quarter gave Loyola its largest lead of the game at 15-8. Towson closed the game strong as Parks, Ryan Drenner and Pat Conroy all scored in a three-minute span, but Towson could get no closer than four the rest of the way. After being outshot 11-5 in the first quarter, the Tigers outshot the Greyhounds 40-27 over the final three quarters. However, Towson won only 12 of 30 face-offs and was called for eight face-off violations. Both teams took advantage of their extra-man opportunities, with Loyola scoring three times on six chances and the Tigers converting three of four. Sophomore Matt Hoy replaced redshirt junior Tyler White in goal early in the second half and made three saves while allowing three goals in nearly 25 minutes. The Tigers will play their first road game of the season on Saturday, traveling to Georgetown for a 12 p.m. opening face-off.
