ITHACA, N.Y. – The fourth-ranked Ithaca College men's lacrosse team got its Empire 8 schedule underway on Saturday afternoon when it traveled to Houghton for matchup against the Highlanders. Despite frigid temperatures and intermittent snow throughout the contest, the Ithaca offense remained red-hot in routing the Highlanders 19-1. The victory improved IC's record to 4-0 on the year. Ithaca showcased its incredible offensive depth on the day in the impressive offensive showing. Seven players found the back of the net in the contest, while 10 scored at least one point in the game. Leading the way was freshman Tyler Krampf who pumped in a career-high eight points on four goals and four assists. Sophomore Connor Hulme also tallied a new career high with seven points. He fired in six goals and added an assist in the contest. Senior attacker Sean Ferrito chipped in five points, netting a hat trick and registering two assists. Freshman Matt Montgomery also scored his first career hat trick in the rout. Freshman Doug Hill and sophomore Owen Smith each posted three-point efforts. The duo each tallied a goal and dished out two assists apiece. Senior Austin Smith also scored a goal, while Kaelan Fitzpatrick, Kevin Enos and Chase Harrington notched assists. Freshman Robby Atwood got the start in the cage and went untested in his first half of work. He faced only one Houghton shot attempt, which was not directed on cage, as the Bombers raced out to a 9-0 lead at the half. The win was his first victory of his collegiate career. Senior Justin Isaacs got the call for the third quarter and again went relatively untested, making one save and allowing one goal. Sophomore Davis Bird was in the cage, as Ithaca again held Houghton without a shot on target in the fourth quarter. Ithaca held possession nearly the entire contest. They turned that possession into plenty of offense, scoring nine straight goals to begin the game. Hulme, Montgomery and Krampf each tallied a pair of goals during the opening half. After Houghton's Paul Chapman broke the string with a goal for the Highlanders to begin the third quarter, IC closed the game with 10 straight goals. IC held a 26-to-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 22-to-2 advantage in faceoff wins during the game. Senior Grant Osadchey went 5-for-5 in draws, while junior Steven Landspurg finished 4-for-4. Harrington marked a 7-for-7 effort, while Austin Smith added a 5-for-7 performance at the 'X'.
