TOWSON, Md. The Towson University men's lacrosse team held No. 5 Johns Hopkins scoreless for 23:46 mid game en route to a 7-5 upset victory on Tuesday night in Johnny Unitas Stadium. It is the first win for the Tigers over their crosstown rival since 1996 and first win over the Blue Jays at home since 1989. After the Tigers scored the first goal of the game, the Blue Jays used a 3-0 run to take a 3-1 lead with 9:13 to go in the second quarter. However, Ryan Brown's goal at 9:13 was the last goal scored by the visitors until 27 seconds remained in the third quarter. Towson scored five times during that 23:46 scoreless streak by the Blue Jays and took a 6-3 lead with 5:53 to go in the third quarter. Andrew Hodgson haad a pair of goals for the Tigers while Ryan Drenner recorded a pair of assists. Brown scored with 27 seconds left in the third which pulled the Blue Jays to within two, 6-4. Joe Seider's goal at 13:16 of the fourth quarter pushed the home team's lead back to three, 7-4. The Blue Jays scored at 1:09 which made the final score 7-5. Hodgson and Sieder led the Tigers with two goals each while Drenner had a goal and two assists.
