DURHAM, N.C.Four different Notre Dame players recorded hat tricks and goaltender Shane Doss made 17 saves to lead the top-ranked Fighting Irish to a 15-10 victory over No. 7 Duke in ACC mens lacrosse action this evening at Koskinen Stadium. The loss ends the Blue Devils 21-game home win streak. Conor Doyle led all scorers with three goals and four assists, while Matt Kavanagh had three goals and two assists for five points for the Notre Dame (7-1, 3-0 ACC). Tanner Scott led Duke (7-4, 0-3 ACC) with three goals and Jack Bruckner contributed two goals and an assist. Three of Duke's four losses this season have come against the top-ranked team with setbacks to Denver, Syracuse and now the Irish. Notre Dame got on the board on a Kavanagh just over a minute into the game and never trailed. Scott tallied his first at the 9:25 mark of the first quarter to make it 2-1, but the Fighting Irish scored two unanswered for a 4-1 lead at the break. Dukes struggles against the Notre Dame defense continued in the second quarter, while the Notre Dame offense was firing on all cylinders. After the Blue Devils made it 4-2 on a Bruckner goal, the Irish answered with three consecutive for a 7-2 lead midway through the second period. Goals from Scott and Deemer Class brought Duke within three, 7-4, as the Blue Devils tried to cut into the five-goal deficit. Notre Dame, as it did throughout the game, scored with four seconds left to head into the locker room ahead 8-4. The Blue Devils, trailing 10-5, got consecutive goals from Justin Guterding and Bruckner to make it a three-goal game again but could never get closer. Notre Dame answered with three unanswered to seemingly ice the victory with a 13-7 edge with 13:15 to play. Duke pulled within four late in the game, but the six-goal spread was too much for the Blue Devils to overcome as it suffered its third straight loss for the first time since 2004. Duke outshot Notre Dame 46-34 and edged the Irish 39-33 in the ground ball battle. Notre Dame won 16-of-29 faceoffs. In goal, redshirt freshman Danny Fowler made six saves. The Irish scored on 44 percent of its shots for the game and put 62 percent of its chances on goal. Jack Rowe went 11-of-23 at the X for the Blue Devils and picked up eight ground balls. Myles Jones extended his point streak to 28 games with a goal and an assist. The Blue Devils closes its ACC schedule next Sunday, April 12 against No. 8 Virginia. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m. at Koskinen Stadium.
