Opening game...wow
by middieoftheyear on March 1, 2004 @06:06:30 PM

This was a great way to start off the season with some of the best played lax around. I attended the game and was just so happy with the level of lax played. As an avid Syracuse fan, I'm proud they came out with a victory. Army played an awesome game, however and had 'cuse on their heels but the Orangemen put forth their best game forward during the fourth quarter. The young Syracuse defense showed some inexperience but they'll most likely improve. Michael Powell...wow..is no doubt the best player in college lacrosse right now. One play that sticks in my head is in the fourth quarter where he splits two defenders to take the goalie one on one only to lay it off to a teammate who had wide open net. Earlier in the game, Powell takes a leap for a high pass, catches it and shoots and scores all before landing on the ground. Im going to have to give John Walker for army some props too because he's a player that is also ahead of his time. Overall just a good opening game. *Id also like to thank Air Force for upsetting Virginia*
