Money Talks

An interesting topic brought up by Laxnut. I know nothing about how state school's determine what monies/scholarships go to support specific athletic programs, but I gotta believe a lot of these institutions are excepted to do "more with less" these days when it comes to AD budgets.

In other words, you can only slice the scholarship
pie so many ways, so is it realistic to expect an OSU or Michigan to step up their commitment to the sport of lacrosse?

I guess when you consider the revenue these guy's generate from TV contracts & gate proceeds for football, I suppose it's possible to underwrite any or every sport they're inclined to.

Obviously, it comes down to Pesos and who's got a lot of them to pour into not just scholarships, but fields and facilities to attract top recruits.

That's why I don't see the Ivies "fading" from the sport any time soon. These schools have huge dollars to support lacrosse. Or, in the case of Princetown, look no further than the "Class of 1952" to bankroll a new artificial playing surface and stadium.
