AA's
by (#14040) on 5/28/01 @2:17PM
I believe that the defensive AA's were the best choices that could have been made. I hope that this year they choose the defensman of the year based on talent, and not just the fact that they won the National Title. Last year, while I believe that he is a great defender, I don't believe that Marshall Abrams should have been awarded the defensman of the year. He played on the best team, but I think that Ryan Curtis was better. I think that the selection comittee made good decisions. I look for John Glatzel to take home the hardware for defensive player of the year.

by (#8966) on 5/28/01 @3:15PM
They show no love to Kieth Cromwell, when he is on a crap ass team with no help at all and can still rack in 50 p. I don't like this three long stick, two goalie crap. It shuts out the long stick middies from getting an AA title. Guys like Kyle Sweeney, and Jay Abendrof, catch the pipe cause the comitee can't choose which goalie is better. Nice job other than that.

Once again UMASS got robbed. They had plenty of guys who should have been ranked higher or gotten something. They are ignored just because they are not an established team yet. One day they will really flip the lax world despite the powers at be attempts to quell them.

Load of crap!!!
by (#10976) on 5/28/01 @4:37PM
DIII AA's are a load of crap. Look at the schools They are all great programs but where are the teams who didn't make the tourney. I guess all their players just suck? The first second and third teams are tournament teams. Honorable mention is made up of the bubble teams like western Maryland, marymount, st.marys, etc. Some of the highest point and goal scorers in the country are from some of these teams. I think they completely got shafted. The fact that Tom Brown or Joe Ellis did'nt make AA is crazy. St. Mary's had the leading assist player in division Three, Andrew Toussaint (80 points). What's the deal? I guess nobody noticed!!! I guess the tournament is all that matters.

by (#6240) on 5/28/01 @10:09PM
Mike Powell is the best player in D1 lacrosse at the moment. He took control of the championship game and single handly brought Syracuse within reach of a title.

Question?? Does anyone know his 40 time?

Damn he's quick.

by (#12808) on 5/29/01 @12:55AM
c'mon no one from Wingate gets AA, I guess that going to the final four doesn't count for anything, especially since some of the Deep South AAs weren't even on first team in the conference. I guess its all political, or should we just ask Jim Fritz at Pfeiffer!!!!

it is all BS
by (#14088) on 5/29/01 @1:55AM
whoever picks the AA's doesnt no what to look at or how to pick them. some players got higher then they should have and others got on there that shouldnt have and some didnt even get AA that should have. it is all BS. 1st let me start w/D1 and work my way down to D3. u mean to tell me that liam banks is only a HMAA, yeah right he should have got higher then that. what is this 2 goalie S#&%, trevor tierney is the best goalie in D1 and should have gotten that by himself. mcginnis should not be on 1st team w/tierney. tierney is much better now D2 is a joke. who is mike mccarthy & cj lefebvre. there r better middies in the deep south then them. ian hill, drew penny, or jon riley should have gotten it over them. over half of mccarthy's pts came when he was playing att., so y should he get AA for middie. give it to a true middie, not someone that doesnt even play middie all the time. now who is brent ries, steve gorham should have gotten it, gorham is a much better player then ries, hell atleast mike roop, mike roop is pfeiffer's best player and he doesnt even get it over ries. what is that all about. john buchanan should have gotten higher then he did. he is better then an HMAA. now D3. i am sorry to say i find it hard to believe that the only good players in D3 are the ones that played on tounry teams. chris lucas is one of the leading goal scorers in D3 and all he gets is HMAA, he is one of the best finishers i have ever seen. and tom brown and joe ellis only get HMAA too. hell they had 99 pts, they must be doing something right. what does the committe even look at. it should not matter what yr u r, what team u play for, or if you made AA the yr before; they should look at pts, gb, face-offs, and everything else and who is the better player. some of the people that got AA r not the better players. well i think it is all BS. for those of u that didnt get as high as u should have u know who u r and u should have gotten higher. for those of u that didnt even get it that should have, u know who u r and should have gotten it and dont let some old fat guys determined how good of a season u had by not getting AA. for those of u that got AA that shouldnt have, u know who u r and dont think u r good and deserved it; b/c u know something u didnt deserve AA so dont think u did. there r better players then u guys that should have gotten AA over u, so dont think u r good b/c u r not. it is all BS!!!!

what bout joe tom and brad
by (#8966) on 5/29/01 @2:36PM
Were's big joe baglio, i mean his team sucks but he still had like 80 points. I think he should of atleast had HM. Don't hate on the guidos. And why'd my boy Tommy K. out at hofstra catch the pipe. The guy has 70 points, more than several players ahead of him and he catches the third team. Conor Gill has a crappy year, stats/ team/ health and they still give him first team. Cut the politics boys. And big Brad Rep 35-35 most balance in the country and they forget him. He even made it to the F4 and he still gets left out.
Lets stop making AA an exclusionary club and spread the love.

Conor Denihan
by (#6368) on 5/29/01 @4:03PM
I think its an abomination that Conor Denihan was completely overlooked for any AA recognition. And Buggs Combs getting second team over Kyle Campbell- that is just rediculous, especially after Campbell leads the tigers past the Terps in the quarters.

Conor Gill first team, absolutely rediculous.
Where is Kyle Campbell, Tom Kessler only at third, they should be your second team attack along with cromwell. another thing is Kevin Pall, 50 goals for stony brook, a crap team, where is he?

it's not about numbers
by (#4012) on 5/30/01 @12:23PM
For those of you bitchin' and moaning about who scored however many points... ...listen it's not about numbers. Look at the princton players , they don't have like 80 plus points for just one guy. The players who go on that list do because they can control a game. Also because whatever defensive scheme or offensive scheme the other team sets up they go and screw with, and score left and right, or have a shut out against that team. Josh Sims was an all-american for whatever four years was it? He was an all-american because he played with poise, and discipline. He was a talented athelete, a good competitor, he beat out the guy that was supposed to cover him, and he had a good mind for the game. But none of his numbers as compared to some of todays players would reflect that. just food for thought.

jeez, 5 guys with 30+ points, 3 with 40+, and not even an honorable mention. not to mention they were like 10 and 5, and lost to limestone by 2 in one game. limestone's whole team was some kind of all american, but wingate got nothing, pretty crappy

Cromwell 2nd Team, His Only Flaw is his Team
by (#5068) on 6/01/01 @2:47PM
I am consistently amazed at how over-looked Keith Cromwell is. He consistently puts up huge numbers on a poor team. He has the full focus of the defense he plays against, and sometimes rarely sees the ball in the attack zone.

I think Powell, and Gill are great but they get a lot more help while putting up similar stats to Cromwell.

Is there no justice for faceoff guys. Out of the two best faceoff guys in the country in D3, (Melanson-W&L; Czerapowicz-Gettysburg) one got HM and one was left off. what is wrong with these coaches?

Upper Arlington '98 graduates Steve Dusseau and Mark Koontz were both selected as 1st teamers. Goes to show you it's not just Maryland and New York anymore.
