In Durham North Carolina at the King of Spring Tournament, two of the top lacrosse programs from their respected states, Gilman (MD) and Dallas Jesuit (TX) squared off in a great high school lacrosse game. Lax.com was there with exclusive highlights of this great game.
This game was a lot closer than the video made it seem. The final score was 11-9 with Gilman winning, but it wasn't the blowout that this video makes it out to be. Disappointing. At least post the final score at the end if you're not going to show both teams equally.
jesuit was winning for most of the game... why is it so biased against jesuit? they should have won the game but get no love.. sorry that the west is getting good and threatening some of the east coast dynasties but there's no need to skew the highlights.
I was spectating the game and at half it was 9-6, or very close to that. The first gilman goals shown in the video are from the second half, and highlights from the 4th quarter are shown in the first 30 seconds of the video. Comecon lax.com I know you are better than that
Unless Jesuit got cheated on a couple plays, they lost a good game. Not to take away from the fact that the west coast is growing at a rapid and satisfactorily rate but just because one school lost by 2 to a program doesn't mean the same outcome will happen if they play stronger teams. Also keep in mind, at that point the Jesuits have played 7 games vs. Gilman who have only played 2. Until we have a nationwide tournament of the top state teams, there's no telling how "good" the west coast is/isn't
So are you saying that Gilman isn't s strong program? They're always one of the best teams in the MIAA-A, which is arguably the toughest high school lacrosse conference in the nation. The fact that Dallas Jesuit, a team from a lukewarm bed, played them to a 2-goal game is an outstanding representation of what's going on in the Western United States in terms of the growth of the game. I have played against them on multiple occasions and they're an outstanding program. They can compete with anyone in the nation if they play the way that they should.
The video did not show any of this. This representation of the game was undeniably skewed toward Gilman and did not give the Dallas Jesuit Rangers the respect they deserve for putting on such an impressive performance.
Obviously lax is growing big time out west, as it is down here in the deeep south. Georgia high school lacrosse is probably about the same as Texas High School lacrosse. I just think it's stupid though for people who aren't from the main areas like Maryland, New York, and those hot beds like Philly and stuff to be whining constantly about not getting respect. You have to respect the history of the sport which starts with Native Americans and onto the traditional hotbeds first. If you're like my school, who has a handful of decent programs in the area, you've not made any history yet. So quit whining and respect the sport and its history. Anyway, it looks like somebody's dad made that anyway so he's probably just filming his kid.
Plus, I went to camp there at Hopkins which is near the Gilman school in Baltimore and EVERYONE plays lacrosse there. On basically every car there was a lacrosse bumper sticker. It's rediculous everyone at the camp was saying the same thing. It's not like that here, but there are some summer camps here now which is cool around Atlanta and Mercer has a team which means I can see some cool college games.
did I say they aren't a strong program? no I didn't actually. Yes it's great in a way to see a Texas team lose a 2 goal game to a strong team, but one team is in midseason shape, while the other is not. Give them both a rematch at the end of the season and the score will be different I guarantee it.
only 2 things comes from texas, steers and queers, and I don't see horns on their heads. stick to football, seceding from the union, racism, and not allowing gay marriage because lax isn't working for you
