MLL Announces 2010 Schedule

Boston, MA (January, 5th, 2010) – Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced the release of its official 2010 game schedule today, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. The league’s 10th anniversary schedule features 36 regular season games between the 6 MLL teams, along with pre-season training camps and special events. Training camps will begin on Saturday, April 24th 2010 and the first weekend of the regular season starts on Saturday, May 15th.

“We are very excited to release the 2010 schedule,” said Gross. “Building off of a successful 2009 campaign, the summer of 2010 offers fans another summer of the best lacrosse in the world. Last summer we saw more milestones as the Denver Outlaws again broke the attendance record with 21,952 fans on July 4th and the Toronto Nationals captured the Steinfeld Cup for being league champions in their first season of play.”

This summer’s slate of action features several premier matchups and big-time events. In Week 1, the defending MLL Champion Toronto Nationals begin their title defense on the road against the Chicago Machine. Despite finishing in last place in the league last summer, the Machine was able to pick up one of its wins against Toronto – a 24-19 shootout on July 4th, 2009. In the other season openers, the Long Island Lizards will head to Annapolis to take on the Washington Bayhawks while the Denver Outlaws will open on the road against Boston at Harvard Stadium in a rematch of one of last year’s MLL Semi-Finals.

There will be plenty of other exciting play-off rematches from 2009 MLL Championship Weekend throughout the 2010 season. In Week 3, the Toronto Nationals will visit INVESCO Field at Mile High in Denver in a rematch of the Championship Game from a year ago. The Outlaws will be looking for vengeance after falling for the second consecutive season in the title game. More rematches from the Semi-Finals will take place in Week 5 when Denver visits Boston again and in Week 11 when Long Island hosts Toronto.

On Thursday July 8th, the MLL’s best and brightest stars will once again be on display in the MLL All-Star Game, which will be held this summer at Harvard Stadium in Boston, MA at 7:00 PM ET. Since 2010 is a year of the World Lacrosse Championships, the format of the game will pit the US Men’s National Team versus the MLL-All Stars. 22 of the 23 members of the US Men’s National Team have MLL experience. At halftime, the Bud Light Skills Competitions will once again provide the fans with exciting entertainment and skills shown off during competitions such as fastest shot and freestyle trick-shot.

The MLL’s historic tenth season will conclude once again in beautiful Annapolis, MD with the New Balance Championship Weekend, taking place over the weekend of Friday, August 20th to Sunday, August 22nd, 2010. Starting Friday, there will be opportunities for fans to enjoy Annapolis and all of the exciting events offered around Championship Weekend. On Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, there are two Semi-Final matchups – at 12:00 and 3:00 PM ET – and the MLL Championship Game is Sunday at 1:00 PM ET. Admission for all three games is only $30 per person. Fans will also be offered discounted rates at several area hotels, including the official hotel of Championship Weekend, the Loews Hotel Annapolis. More details about all aspects of New Balance Championship Weekend will be available in the near future at www.majorleaguelacrosse.com.

Each team wraps up their 12-game regular season on Saturday, August 7th, 2010. There is a bye-week for every club during the first weekend of the 2010 ILF World Championships – the weekend of Saturday, July 17th. Following the regular season, there is also a week off before the four playoff teams compete in New Balance Championship Weekend. The date of the MLL Collegiate Draft changes from its typical mid-week spot of years past to take place on Sunday, June 6th, 2010.

The MLL can't expand or become successful because of ignorant people like you. Why can't you just be supportive and back the sport that you love so dearly? You must be a fan, otherwise you wouldn't be looking at this site. Where's your compassion?

dude i love lax and have backed the MLL since i started playing but since all those teams folded my interest has seriously waned. get rid of the two point line, the gear monopoly and the matching jerseys that every team has, just with a different color scheme. its been ten years and they're back to only six teams! i know the current economy doesnt help but jesus people... and stop calling it the "premier professional outdoor lacrosse league" in every press release. i mean, we know already. i've read the same sentence a million times. whos doing your PR work? dear god. there are no other outdoor pro leagues. but maybe there should be. maybe the MLL should fold and someone who actually knows what theyre doing should step in. get more sponsorships outside of the lax universe. cause honestly, bud light is crappy beer and warrior is crappy gear. and new balance? i dont care if they're all owned by the same conglomerate, new balance isn't cool. nike is cool. adidas is cool. i even gotta give reebok props. you know who wears new balance? old people. and dudes that play in the MLL. and that one year where uniforms were designed by tommy hilfigur? man... steinfeld shot the league in the foot 10 years ago on day 1 by agreeing that the only gear allowed on the field was warrior. way to not see the pattern between sponsorship and growth. dumbass.

Some teams have all brine gear.... I agree with you on the jerseys. That shit drives me crazy!!! and get rid of the shot clock. Or lengthen it. Also. It would be cool if teams had different helmet companies. like in college.

i agree the mll should have the individual clubs decide what gear they want like it is in college because warrior sucks. They need to get better sponsors cause a lot of people would never wear anything new balance.

And seriosly no one wears new balance but old people
