Maryland scored 11 consecutive goals spanning the second through fourth quarter as the #3 Terps rolled past #20 Johns Hopkins, 18-10, in the 113th edition of The Rivalry at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium on a chilly Saturday afternoon.
Offensive Explosion
- Senior Logan Wisnauskas set a career-high with nine points, including a career-high seven assists.
- Senior Jared Bernhardt tallied a game-high five goals and added a helped for six points.
- Sophomore Daniel Maltz recorded six points on three goals and three assists.
- Senior Anthony DeMaio netted four goals for Maryland, for the fourth Terp with multiple goals in the game.
- The Terps' other goals came from Roman Puglise, Kyle Long, Bubba Fairman and Griffin Brown.
Break Out The Record Book
- Wisnauskas' nine points tied for the fifth-most points in a game in school history and are the most in a single-game since Connor Kelly had 10 (3-7=10) against Notre Dame in 2018.
- Wisnauskas' seven assists tied for the second-most assists in a game in Maryland history, the most since Kelly had those seven assists in a game in 2018. The only Terp with more assists in a game was Bob Boneillo in 1979, with 10 against Duke.
- Bernhardt tied his career-high for goals in a game with five, marking the fourth time he achieved the feat, the last meting vs. Michigan (4/6/19). He now has 27 career hat tricks.
- DeMaio's four goals tied a career-high, as he did it twice before, last against Virginia (5/18/19).
- Maltz set a career-high with six points, surpassing his former high of five, done most-recently against Michigan in the 2021 opener.
Defense Stands Out
- The Terps held Hopkins without a goal for a span of 22:40, including a shutout (8-0) in the third quarter, scoring 11 games in a row.
- Nick Grill had three caused turnovers and four groundballs.
- Between the pipes, goale Logan McNaney made 11 saves.
- In last late relief, Drew Morris stopped three shots.
Terps In The The Rivalry
- Maryland's 18 goals are the most for the Terps since they scored 20 vs. Hopkins in a 21-20 overtime loss, in 1977.
- The last time Maryland scored this many goals in a win against Hopkins was on May 15, 1976, when they won, 21-13.
- All-time Maryland is now 45-67-1 in The Rivalry
- This was Maryland's first win at home against Hopkins since April 29, 2017, a 12-5 victory.
