Logan Wisnauskas led the way with seven points (4G, 3A), while attackmen Daniel Maltz and Jared Bernhardt combined for seven goals as Maryland took down #13/14 Ohio State, 16-8 Saturday afternoon. The Terrapins used a six-goal fourth quarter to shut the door on the Buckeyes, holding an opponent to under 10 goals for the fourth time this season. Maryland never trailed in the game, taking control early on a 7-1 run. Wisnauskas provided a major spark from the get go, netting two goals and three assists in the opening two quarters to pace the Terps. The Buckeyes would answer back in the third, scoring three straight to cut the lead to 8-6 with 6:38 to play in the quarter. LSM John Geppert came through with a major momentum-shifting goal at the 6:30 mark, taking it himself directly off a faceoff to push the lead back to three. With a three-goal lead to start the fourth quarter, UMD picked up right where they left off from last week with another dominant game-clinching run. Goals from Maltz (2), Wisnauskas (2), Bernhardt and Eric Malever all but took the wind out of the Buckeyes' sails to clinch a fifth-straight win for Maryland. The Terrapin defense wreaked havoc once again, consistently forcing the Buckeyes to take shots late in the shot clock to force turnovers and create easy stops for goalie Logan McNaney. McNaney would finish the day with 11 saves. Maryland has now completed its first leg of the Big Ten regular season schedule with a 5-0 record, and will now face each conference opponent again over the next five weeks. The Terps will be back in action on Sunday, March 28 for a rematch with #7/6 Rutgers. Faceoff is slated for noon on ESPNU.
