The Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-12 overtime decision to Stony Brook University in a non-conference game played at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y. The loss drops the Pioneers to 1-4 on the year, while the Seawolves improve to 5-1
Stony Brook scored twice in 38 seconds, with 2:54 and 2:16 to play in the fourth quarter, tying the score 12-12 and forcing overtime. Both teams tallied two shots in the overtime period, with the second Seawolves shot, from Caleb Pearson, finding the back of the net, for the game-winner.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, March 7. That game will now begin at 4:00 pm.

Drew Edwards led the Pioneers with five points, tallying four goals and also picked up three ground balls
Logan Liljeberg had a hat trick and totaled four points

How it Happened
Stony Brook scored 1:57 into the game and jumped out to a 3-0 lead when Chris Pickel scored at the 9:15 mark
Edwards found the net for the first time at 7:07 for the Pioneers
Cory Vanginhoven struck with 45 seconds left in the quarter, and Haun scored a man-up goal, 13 seconds into the second quarter, for a 5-1 advantage
Jaden Walcot scored a man-up tally for the Pioneers at 13:12, the first of five straight Pioneer goals,
The final tally of the run came from Carson Spooner at the 9:14 mark of the third quarter, giving SHU a 6-5 advantage
A Harrison Matsuoka goal at 7:41 ended the run and tied the game, 6-6
Edwards tallied back-to-back goals, the second with 5:34 to play int eh third, to give the Pioneers an 8-6 advantage
Liljeberg answered a Matt Anderson goal at 3:47 before Vanghinhoven wrapped the third quarter scoring with the Pioneers leading 9-8
Spooner started the fourth quarter scoring at 13:11, unassisted
Haun and Mike McCannell struck at 12:25 and 7:02 to tie the score, 10-10
