Thanks to four goals from senior Sam Asman and three more goals from Ethan Tyack, No. 7 Denison men's lacrosse opened their 2021 season with a strong statement, defeating Adrian College, 26-3, on Wednesday night at Piper Stadium. Outshooting the Bulldogs 79-15 for the game, the Big Red outscored Adrian 19-1 in the first half, including and 11-0 run in the second quarter. Asman and Tyack combined for seven goals before the break while 12 different players entered the scoring column for DU. The Big Red added seven goals in the third quarter, including two scores from Quinn O'Donnell, as Denison coasted past AC to open the season with a win. The loss dropped Adrian to 4-3 overall. Leading DU with 10 shots on the night, Asman added two assists to his four goals while also collecting six points. Tyack also tallied six points on three goals and three assists while freshman Luke Fisher followed with the same on two goals and a game-high four assists. The Big Red added a balanced attack at the FOGO with Davis Cronin and Steven Villacorta combining to go 21-of-27 from the face-off X. Cronin also led the way with nine ground balls and Owen O'Neill followed with four GBs. Senior goalie Reeves McKenney earned the win for DU with four saves in 21:01 of work. TJ Spahn and Archer Darrach also tallied one save each. Denison will return to action next Wednesday, March 31 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio for a 7 p.m. showdown with NCAC-rival, Ohio Wesleyan University. OWU is currently not allowing visiting team fans at their home events, but they will be offering a live video stream of the game.
