Senior attack Keeley MacAfee had four goals and an assist, scoring her 100th career goal to lead Harvard women's lacrosse (1-0) past New Hampshire, 14-6, on Saturday (Feb. 16) afternoon. The win was the first for Devon Wills, The Carole Kleinfelder Head Coach for Women's Lacrosse. Senior attack Nicole Baiocco matched a career high with three goals, and Tessa Queri, Grace Hulslander and Caroline Garrity each notched two goals for Harvard. Sophomore goalie Grace Rotondo made six saves to earn the win. Harvard owned a 28-12 margin in shots on cage, held a 18-10 margin on ground balls, and a 15-7 edge on draw controls. The Crimson responded to an early UNH score with a four goal run, including first-year Grace Hulslander's first career goal on a nice cut across the middle for a shot just outside the circle at 19:23. Garrity scored on a free-position goal at 13:20, then Baiocco scored her second of the half, cutting to the front of the cage for a low shot past the UNH goalie at 11:22. Hannah Keating scored just 29 seconds later off a nice feed from MacAfee to make it three-goal run. Rotondo came up with a big save on a free position shot by Gabby Masseur late in the first half to help Harvard maintain its lead. The Crimson continued the run in the second half, as Harvard extended the lead to 9-2 on goals from MacAfee (25:56) and Baiocco (23:29). Harvard responded to a four goal run by UNH, with five consecutive goals to put the game away for good. Tessa Queri scored her first of the year with 11:04 to play in the second half to make it 10-6.
