The Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team could not contain the high-powered attack of No. 8 Florida Wednesday morning, falling to the Gators 21-6 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. How it Happened: The Gators (3-1) took control from the first whistle with a goal less than a minute in to open a 5-0 run. Siena Gore finally broke the drought for KSU (1-2) with a laser at the 18:19 mark. UF added another three goals before sophomore Chesslyn Lamar netted her third goal of the season to make it 8-2 with just under 14 minutes to play in the half. The Gators' defense shut out the Owls for the next 12 minutes as they extended their lead until another goal from Gore sent KSU into the locker room trailing 13-3. Florida kept the pressure on in the second half scoring the first three goals of the period. The Owls attempted to cut the lead to single digits with Lamar and Abby Squires recording back-to-back goals to bring KSU within 16-5 at the 13:06 mark. UF answered with two goals of its own, closing out the game on a 5-1 swing with Marissa Gore scoring the Owls' last goal of the game. Notes: Siena Gore recorded two goals against the Gators marking only the seventh time in her career she has been held to less than three goals … Chesslyn Lamar finished with a career-high two goals … Payton Gregory recorded her second career assist … Siena Gore logged five draw controls … Florida out-drew KSU 19-10. Quotes: Head Coach Laura Maness On takeaways from the game… "I think one of the things we wanted to do was come out hard, play our game and take the opportunities that were given to us and I think we did just that. We also got a lot of players into the game and I think getting them that game experience against an elite team is going to carry them through the rest of the season." Up Next: The Owls will refocus and set their sights on Presbyterian, hosting the Blue Hose this Saturday at 1 p.m.
