The Marist men's lacrosse team earned a landmark program victory on Tuesday afternoon, as the Red Foxes defeated #9/7 Army West Point, 17-9, at Tenney Stadium.
Jamison Embury led the Red Foxes with four goals and seven points. Peyton Smith won 17 of 28 face-offs (61 percent), and Jake MacGregor made 16 saves.
Jojo Pirreca's goal at the 4:54 mark of the first quarter gave Marist the lead for good. The Red Foxes later reeled off eight consecutive goals, as they shut out Army in the second quarter and held the Black Knights scoreless for a span of 29:51.
This was the Red Foxes' third win over a ranked opponent in the last five years, and its first since a 10-4 win at Air Force exactly three years ago to the day.
