The NYIT men's lacrosse team is in the win column. The Bears, after an uncharacteristic four straight losses to open the season, defeated Chestnut Hill, 13-12, on Wednesday at frigid President's Stadium to snap the skid. Chris Lieze-Hammel and JT Forkin fueled NYIT's victory with three goals apiece. Brian Hoerter won 22 of 29 faceoffs, including one in the final seconds after the Griffins again pulled within one. NYIT trailed 4-3 early in the second quarter before rattling off four straight goals to close the period. The Bears led the rest of the way. The Griffins pulled within 11-10 on a goal from Casey Brown with 4:36 remaining. But Joseph Duchnowski and Michael Trainor answered with late goals, each time to restore a two-goal cushion and secure the victory. The Bears (1-4) look to build on the first win of the season when they play at Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday
