Kailyn Hart wasted no time getting the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team on the scoreboard. And the sixth-ranked Seawolves were off to the races from there, defeating Towson, 13-8, on Thursday at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. Hart tallied an unassisted goal 29 seconds into the game and Stony Brook never trailed as the team rebounded from a loss in a top-10 battle at Florida. The Seawolves improved to 6-0 all-time against Towson. "We talk all the time about being dominant at home," coach Joe Spallina said. "I thought we got off to a good start, but we still have room for improvement. I'm happy for our kids that we were able to win. I think every game for us is really good because we have these young kids getting a ton of experience and they're starting to do really good things consistently." Ally Kennedy contributed a team-high four goals. Taryn Ohlmiller had eight points (three goals, five assists). Rayna Sabella and Hart had two goals apiece. "We're really excited to get this win," Ohlmiller said. "I think we showed a lot of people what we've been working on." Kennedy was impressed by the team's maturity coming off the loss to No. 8 Florida. "Sometimes you're going to get knocked down in life, and definitely in lacrosse," Kennedy said. "Being able to turn the page and come together as a team and not get down on ourselves after a loss really showed this team's character." Kayla Downey scored her first collegiate goal and Mikayla Dwyer tallied her first goal of the season during the first half. Stony Brook built a 13-4 lead before Towson scored four late goals. The Seawolves (3-1) return to action Sunday when they host 11th-ranked Princeton at noon. "Every game is like a faceless opponent so we're just going to take the next game and get ready for it," Ohlmiller said.
