Seton Hill University committed 19 turnovers, and three University of Indianapolis goals resulted on possessions gained from the miscues Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds defeated the Griffins, 10-9, in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill slips to 2-1 on the year while UIndy improves to 2-0.
• Uindy outshot SHU by a 36-34 margin, 23-21 on goal.
• Max Eismann grabbed 13 saves in the loss for the Griffins
• SHU was 0-for-3 in man-up opportunities, while UIndy was 2-for-4.
• SHU's 19 turnovers is the second most registered in a game since the 2016 season.
// LEADERS
• Logan Maloni and Robert Hofseth each scored a pair of goals for the Griffins. John Hofseth, Colin Mitchell, Dan Rupert, Jay Scerbo, and Zack Estabrooks all added a goal apiece. John Hofseth led the team with two assists.
• Parker Kump, Drew Billig, and Shawn Kimble all scored three apiece in the win for UIndy. Nathaniel Webber also added a goal. Kimble and Parker Johnson had two assists apiece on the day.
// FIRST QUARTER
• Logan Maloni and Jay Scerbo scored early goals in the 13th minute to give SHU a 2-0 lead, but Parker Kump got the visitors on the board with a goal at 8:05 to make it 2-1. Robert Hofseth's goal from a Colin Mitchell assist at 4:15 was the final goal of the first quarter, giving Seton Hill a 3-1 edge.
// SECOND QUARTER
• Kump struck first in the second frame, scoring an unassisted goal in with 12:25 remaining, and Nathaniel Webber would score off a Parker Johnson assist to tie the game at 3-3 with 11:16 to go. Logan Maloni scored his second goal of the game just before the eight minute mark from a Bennett Johnson assist to regain the lead for SHU, 4-3. Dan Rupert's goal at 6:36 increased that advantage to 5-3. UIndy goals from Drew Billig and Parker Kump at 4:14 and 2:46 knotted the game up at 5-5. However, Colin Mitchell's unassisted goal with 10 seconds remaining put Seton Hill ahead, 6-5, heading into the break.
// THIRD QUARTER
• Robert Hofseth got the Griffins started, scoring a goal off a John Hofseth assist with 7:26 remaining in the third to put SHU ahead, 7-5. However, UIndy would battle back with two goals from Shawn Kimble at 2:20 and 00:17 to tie the game, 7-7, heading into the fourth.
// FOURTH QUARTER
• Zack Estabrooks' goal from a Dan Rupert assist regained the lead for SHU, 8-7, but two straight goals from Drew Billig at 7:43 and 5:18 gave the visitors their first lead of the game 9-8. John Hofseth's unassisted goal at 3:49 sent the game into overtime, 10-9.
// OVERTIME
• Shawn Kimble gave UIndy the win with a goal at the 1:01 mark in the first OT.
// UP NEXT
• The Griffins look to bounce back when they travel to Buffalo, NY to take on Le Moyne College in non-conference action. That game is set to be played at St. Joseph's Collegiate in Buffalo and is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
