The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team hosted Nazareth on Tuesday for a non-conference bout. Brockport suffered its first loss of the year, falling to Nazareth 20-8. Brandon Sveda registered a hat trick for the Golden Eagles, finishing with three goals in the contest. Brendan Halleran continued his solid scoring to start the year, notching two scores of his own. Joe Kealy, Patrick Sheridan, and Peter Scavone each tallied one goal in the loss. Assists were credited to Corey Choberka, Owen VanWie, Jack Peterson, and Kieran Fitzgerald. Choberka and Fitzgerald also scooped up four ground balls each to lead the team. Goalie John Felice finished the day with 14 saves after facing a total of 52 shots against Nazareth. His record on the year mirrors the Golden Eagles' mark of 1-1. Nazareth scored early and often to take an 11-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Golden Flyers continued its offense in the second, as they were up by double-digit goals at halftime. Brockport won the fourth quarter, 3-2, but was too far behind to mount a comeback. Nazareth walked away with the 12-goal victory. The Golden Eagles look to bounce back this weekend as they take on the SUNY Delhi Broncos on Saturday, March 7th. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 pm on Bob Boozer Field.
