GAMBIER, Ohio -- With Wednesday's 13-5 triumph over the Otterbein University Cardinals, the Kenyon College men's lacrosse team, for the fourth consecutive start to a season, ran it's record to a perfect 3-0. Senior Declan Curry and first-year Cameron Longway led the way with three goals apiece for the Lords. In addition to those two, the Lords also got an excellent showing from senior goalkeeper Mayo Amorello, who made 14 saves and lowered his season goals against average to 5.20. Matt Pollack, who ended up with two goals in the game, netted the contest's first tally for Kenyon. Less than two minutes after that, Otterbein rang up its first, but Kenyon responded 30 seconds later to take the lead for good. Joe Boesel utilized an assist from Rollins Heath to score that second goal for Kenyon. Otterbein got as close as 3-2 later in the first quarter, but a pair of goals from Mike Matteo helped get the Lords to the break with a 7-3 lead. Longway and Curry, who scored the final two goals of the first half for Kenyon, returned to the playing field to score the first two goals of the second half, running Kenyon's lead to six. The Cardinals got one back, but that same Kenyon duo retaliated with two more goals, sending the Lords into the final frame with an 11-4 lead. Otterbein never got closer than six the rest of the way. Finn Murray and Rowan Goldin fired in the final two goals to seal the outcome for the Lords. Kenyon's final count was 48 shots, compared to 29 for Otterbein. The Lords also won the faceoff battle 15-7 and out-hustled the Cardinals in scooping up ground balls, 39-26. The Lords now move into the spring-break portion of their schedule, which kicks off next Wednesday with a tough test at No. 9-ranked Franklin and Marshall College.
