Junior midfielder Jack Damon (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored Ohio Wesleyan's first 2 goals and junior attacker Henry Hasenberg (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola) rang up a team-high 5 goals as the Bishops opened their season with a non-conference win over Walsh on Tuesday at Selby Stadium. Damon put the Bishops on the board off a feed from senior midfielder Conor McGeeney (Loveland/Archbishop Moeller) at the 11:50 mark of the opening quarter, then scored off a pass from Hasenberg shortly thereafter. Goals from senior attacker Will Anton (Madison, N.J.) and McGeeney increased the Bishop lead to 4-0. Sully Dowling put the Cavaliers on the scoreboard midway through the opening quarter, but senior midfielder Sean Gellen (Davis, Calif./Senior) answered with a goal for Ohio Wesleyan, and Hasenberg followed with a man-up score during the final minute of the quarter. Hasenberg added 2 more goals during the second period as the Bishops extended the lead to 10-3 at the break, and scored twice more during the third quarter as Ohio Wesleyan reeled off 6 straight goals to take a 15-4 lead leading into the final period. Hasenberg finished with 5 goals and an assist. Gellen and Damon added 3 goals apiece, and Anton and McGeeney each had 2 goals and an assist. Senior Zach Brasser (Westport, Conn./Millbrook (N.Y.) School) was credited with 7 saves during the first 47-plus minutes in the Ohio Wesleyan goal. Sophomore Carl Mazabras (New Canaan, Conn.) finished the game in the Bishop crease. Dowling and Marcus Brown each scored twice for Walsh. Patrick Cuddihy recorded 15 saves for the Cavaliers.
