The Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team never trailed in a 16-10 victory over visiting UMass Dartmouth in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. Series and Streaks The Seahawks tie the series 5-5 all-time. Three Stars of the Game Salve Regina junior Pat Leary (Wakefield, Mass.) scored four times and handed out an assist to lead the Seahawks attack. Salve Regina junior Brendan Kelly (Long Beach, N.Y.) also potted four scores. Salve Regina junior Connor Cunningham (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) made 22 saves to improve to 2-0 in net. Key Stat of the Game The Corsairs went 1-for-7 on the man-up, while the Seahawks efficiently went 2-for-3. Turning Point Salve Regina scored the first four goals to begin the second half for a 12-5 lead. The Corsairs could never get closer than five goals after that. Quick Hits The Seahawks outshot the Corsairs 43-37 Salve Regina held a 36-24 edge in ground balls led by Joe Sousa (Cranston, R.I.) who collected nine while winning 9-of-16 faceoffs. Tim Jordan (Sandwich, Mass.) led the Corsairs attack with four goals and an assist. Charlie Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.) got the start in net for the Corsairs and made nine saves in three quarters of work. He takes the loss, falling to 0-1 on the season. He was replaced in the fourth quarter by Ted McCaffery (Pepperell, Mass.) who made three saves in his lone quarter of action. Next Up Salve Regina (2-0) hosts Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, February 25, at 7 p.m. UMass Dartmouth (0-1) travels to face Roger Williams on February 26.
