ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team defeated No. 10-ranked Ohio State, 13-10, on Senior Night in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,200-plus Friday (April 26) at U-M Lacrosse Stadium.
» Alex Buckanavage totaled five points and tied the U-M single-game assists record with four, all in the first half.
» Brent Noseworthy became the first Wolverine in program history to hit the 100-goal plateau en route to netting a hat-trick in his final contest as a Wolverine.
» The win over the Buckeyes is the first win for U-M in the history of the series and the third win over a top-10 team in program history.
» Prior to the contest, U-M honored its 12-member senior class with a sold-out crowd of 2,200-plus on hand.
Senior Brent Noseworthy scored at the 6:41 mark of the third quarter to become the first Wolverine in program history to score 100-goals and ended his career with 102 markers. Sophomore Alex Buckanavage tied the school record for points in a season with 48 and the single-game assists record with four, while close defender Nick DeCaprio had two caused turnovers to tie the Michigan career record with 66.
Michigan (4-9, 1-4 Big Ten), went on a 3-0 run in the first quarter and a 4-0 run in the second to hold an 8-4 lead going into the half. U-M was led by Buckanavage's four assists and three scores from freshman Bryce Clay.
In the third quarter, U-M led by as many as four goals before Ohio State (8-4, 1-4 Big Ten) crept within two markers at the 10:18 mark of the fourth quarter, as a goal from OSU's Jackson Reid cut the Michigan lead to 11-9. Noseworthy then registered scored goals with 7:29 and 31 seconds remaining in the fourth to run the count to 13-9 and ice the game. Reid added his fifth and final score with 11 seconds left to run the count to the final of 13-10.
Ohio State was led by Reid's game-high five goals, while Michigan senior goalie Gunner Garn was pristine in cage, stopping nine shots. U-M was also able to overcome a 2-of-26 faceoff deficit and cleared 20-of-22.
