Senior attackman Chris Jordan scored five goals and added two assists, while Ben Murtagh and Ben Hutchinson both tallied hat tricks to lead the No. 15 St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team to a 20-6 over SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday afternoon at Hall-Leet Stadium. With the win, the Saints improved to 2-1 overall, while the Knights fell to 0-2. Ben Hutchinson also tallied an assist, while Josh Huiatt netted two goals and assisted on three others and Chase Malatesta scored twice. Judge Murphy, Jack Hennessey, Joe Scarfi, Ben Kniskern and Zack Corsi all scored for the Scarlet and Brown. Corsi's goal marked his first career goal for the Saints. Padraic Condon went 9-for-15 from the faceoff dot and grabbed a team-best six ground balls, while four other Saints grabbed three and Guthrie Little and Hayes Huwiler both recorded two caused turnovers. The Saints opened scoring and started out strong scoring four goals in the first quarter and holding the Knights to just seven shots, to take a 4-0 lead. SUNY Geneseo's Drew Liguori scored first in the second, but the Saints added two more in the second quarter and another two to start the third to go up 8-1 over the Knights. Despite two goals from the Knights in the third, the Saints were firing on all cylinders to outscore SUNY Geneseo 8-2 in the third quarter and head into the final frame with a 14-3 lead. Huiatt opened scoring in the fourth with a one-handed goal, and was followed up by goals from Scarfi and Malatesta for the 17-3 advantage. Riley Henselder tallied back-to-back goals for the Knights, but the Saints closed the game on goals from Ben Kniskern, Malatesta and Corsi. Kniskern's goal was also his first while dawning the Scarlet and Brown. "I was really pleased with how the team bounced back from the weekend," said head coach Mike Mahoney. "We got off to a good start and shot the ball well throughout the game. It was a solid team effort in all phases of the game."
