Hamilton College's Britt Defeo '22 recorded his first career hat trick and Max Scheidl '21 made a career-high of 26 saves in the Continentals' 11-7 loss to the Connecticut College Camels at Silfen Field on Saturday afternoon. Will Braun '22 scored the first goal of the game at the 10:32 mark in the first quarter after the Camels' goalie went to clear it from their defensive end and Braun forced the turnover to run it in. Connecticut College tied the game two minutes later scoring in the top right corner. Defeo scored his first goal of the game putting the ball in the bottom right hand side with the assist from Ben Gardner '21 with 6:18 left in the first quarter for a 2-1 lead. The Camels started the second quarter with two goals in two minutes to take a one goal advantage. Christian Byrne '24 scored a man up goal to tie the game 3-3 with the assist from Nathan Field '24 right in front of the net with 10:38 on the clock. Connecticut College scored two goals in a twenty second span to take a two-goal edge with 9:57 remaining. Chriss Morse '24 scores off the faceoff with the assist from Quin Crowley '22 with 9:50 on the clock and six minutes late Defeo scored his second goal from the top of the key to tie the game 5-5. The Camels scored two more goals before the end of the quarter to head into halftime up 7-5. Defeo recorded his third goal with 9:28 on the clock in the third. Jack Jennings '23 dodged two defenders to find Defeo open on the left side who put it in low. Connecticut College scored off the faceoff with 8:17 left for an 8-6 lead. Scheidl made nine saves in the remaining eight minutes of the third quarter to hold off the Camels and with the help from Hamilton's defense they headed into the final quarter with the two-goal difference. Gardner scored with 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter after Morse passed it from behind the net and he shot it over the right shoulder of the goalie. Connecticut College scored three more goals in the remaining minutes of the game to take the four-goal win. The Continentals were successful on all 24 clear attempts, picked up 24 ground balls and recorded 29 shots. Crowley won five faceoffs and picked up a team high four ground balls.
