Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team fell to Stockton, 14-12, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 2-2 on the season, while the Ospreys remain undefeated at 4-0. Sophomore Micah Ballew led the Elizabethtown offense, finishing with three goals. Ballew has score three or more goals in three of the four games this season. Junior Brandon Sankey and Senior Mike Scrafano each tallied three points on two goals and one assist. Sophomore Dante Poli paced the Stockton offense, registering three goals and two assists for a game-high five points. Junior Luc Swedland racked up a game-high four goals. The Ospreys came out hot, rushing out to 5-1 advantage capped off my an unassisted strike by senior Eric Eliis with 9:44 remaining in the first quarter. The Blue Jays chipped away at the deficit through the end of the first quarter, cutting the deficit to two (6-4) after a goal by Sankey closed out the opening period. Elizabethtown continued to hold onto the momentum at the start of the second, and took its first lead of the game after Scrafano scored with just under 9:30 remaining in the first half. The game remained tight as neither team could pull away and the score at intermission was deadlocked at eight. The Ospreys took control of the game at the start of the third quarter, finding the back of the net three times and moving ahead 11-8 with 6:40 on the clock. Elizabethtown moved back within two three times over the final half, the final time coming at 14-12 with 1:27, but Stockton one the ensuing face-off and kept possession, securing its fourth win of the season. Senior Tom Mahoney (2-2) made a season-high 18 saves on 47 shots faced. Senior Justin Ruiz (4-0) scored the victory, snatching six saves on 28 shots. Elizabethtown hits the road for the first time this season on Wednesday, Mar. 4, at Messiah. Opening face-off is set for 7 p.m.
