THE SKINNY STORY Franklin & Marshall, ranked 15th in the latest USILA poll, scored the final six goals of the game to pull away from McDaniel and remain undefeated in conference play with a 19-9 win. THE LEADERS • Jakob Katzen (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) led the Green Terror with a career-high 30 saves in cage. • Micah Brooks (Woolford, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) led the attack with three goals. • Pat Fegan (Edgewater, Md./South River) added his own hat trick. FOR THE FOES • Kevin Mollihan led the Diplomats with four goals and three assists. • Blake Target added four goals. • Luke Keating chipped in three goals and four assists. THE REST OF THE STORY • Carson Marshall (Brookeville, Md./Glenelg) opened the scoring, finishing in front on a pass from Bryce Brookhart (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) for a 1-0 lead just 1:55 into the game. A.J. Rigsby netted his first of the day off a Kevin Mollihan assist just over two minutes later. Jarrett Donaghy finished a solo run for a 2-1 edge before Mollihan found Luke Keating to cap a 3-0 burst in 1-minute, 4-seconds. Pat Fegan found the back of the net with 5:40 showing to make it a 3-2 game before a pair of Keating-to-Blake Target goals in the final 2:43 of the quarter stretched the lead to 5-2. • Marshall found Micah Brooks and Reilly hit a cutting Fegan 12 seconds apart to close the deficit to 5-4 with 11:22 showing in the second quarter. Target and Mollihan scored 31 seconds apart to push the lead back to three two minutes later. Marshall and Keating traded solo runs before Cooper Archambault (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) netted his first goal of the year with 5:39 remaining, making it an 8-6 game. Mollihan stretched the lead to 9-6 with 1:51 to play. In a 5-on-5 situation off a restart with 6.7 seconds remaining, Mollihan found Rigsby, who finished with 1.7 seconds on the clock for a four-goal lead at the break. • Rigsby completed his hat trick with a man-up tally at the 10:49 mark of the third quarter beforea. Tucker McBridge man-up marker made it 12-6 with 9:23 on the clock. After Shane McBride stretched the advantage to seven, Brooks scored a pair of goals – one on a needle-threading pass from Nick DeLoriers (Abington, Md./John Carroll) and one from Marshall in a man-up situation to close the deficit to 13-8 with 1:38 to play in the third quarter. • Fegan completed his hat trick off a second DeLoriers pass with 10:29 showing in the fourth to make it a four-goal margin but Keating found Target for a third man-up goal with 8:47 on the clock to start the final run. THE INSIDE STORY • Jakob Katzen reached double-digit saves for the 11th time this season. It was just the second 30-save game in program history. • Nick DeLoriers had his 12-game goal-scoring streak snapped but had two assists to continue his streak of 13 straight games with a point. • With his two goals and two assists, Carson Marshall has 97 career points. • Nate Leishear picked up seven ground balls. • Franklin & Marshall finished with a 75-30 advantage in shots.
