The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team was narrowly defeated by Providence in a low scoring battle, 6-4. The Crusaders' defense held Providence to just six goals, including keeping them off the scoreboard entirely in the third quarter and just one second half goal. Jonathan Tesoro made 12 saves in the game to lead the Crusaders while the team saw four different goal scorers. Providence took an early lead, scoring three goals before the 10:00 minute mark of the first quarter. Sean Mullaney recorded a goal to stop the Crusaders run with 6:32 to play in the opening frame, 3-1, before the Friars found the goal once more, 4-1. The Friars scored the lone goal in the second quarter on a man-up situation, 5-1. At the half, the Crusaders trailed, 4-1 and did not record their second goal until under a minute in the third quarter, 4-3. Dean DiNanno and Justin Lynskey helped kick start the Friars offense to push the game to 5-4 with 5:19 to play. In search of the game tying goal, the Crusaders double teamed in the defensive end but Providence was able to break through to score in an open goal with 24 seconds reaming, 6-4.
