FINAL SCORE: No. 16 Vermont 10, Binghamton 6 BURLINGTON, Vt. – Goalie Nick Washuta tallied a career-high 18 saves and midfielder Rob Hudson recorded a career-high four goals as the 16th-ranked Catamounts remained unbeaten at home with a 10-6 win over Binghamton on Saturday. Vermont improves to 8-1 on the season and 1-1 in America East play. With the setback, Binghamton moves to 1-8 on the season and 0-2 in conference games. RELATED LINKS Box Score CatamounTV Highlights "I am happy for the guys on a gutty win today," head coach Chris Feifs said. "Binghamton played tough defensively and made us earn every opportunity. I am especially proud of Rob Hudson, Charlie Erdmann, and Nick Washuta with how they responded to the adversity of last week's game to help us pull this one out." Vermont responded with three unanswered goals in the first quarter following an early Bearcat goal from Sean Makar. Ian MacKay, Ben French, and Liam Limoges scored the trio of goals. Hudson picked up an assist on the French goal after a behind-the-back pass from the midfielder led to an easy French goal. Thomas McAndrew cut the Vermont lead to 3-2 with a BU goal just seconds into the second quarter. However, Hudson and MacKay each found the back of the net to push the lead back to three goals at 5-2. A pair of Binghamton goals in the final minutes of the second cut the Vermont lead to a single goal at halftime. Each team scored a lone goal in the third quarter as each team tightened play in the defensive zone. Hudson's second of the game pushed the UVM lead to 6-4 before Will Talbott-Shere cut the lead to a single goal once again. Hudson completed the hat trick in the opening minutes of the final quarter as he and McAndrew traded goals. Vermont closed the game with three unanswered goals, one from Hudson and a pair from Dawes Milchling, to take a 10-6 final over the Bearcats. Washuta was strong between the pipes for the Catamounts, recording several crucial saves to preserve the UVM lead. He finished the game with five ground balls. Washuta's counterpart, Joe Carbone, finished the game with six saves. Erdmann led the Cats with six ground balls and took every faceoff for Vermont, winning 14 of 19 battles. MacKay finished the game with three points and pushed his consecutive point streak to 55 games, tied for the third longest streak in the country. Binghamton found the back of the net once on seven extra man opportunities. Vermont was 0-for-3 on the advantage. With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate another $100 to the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington, bringing this year's total to 113 wins and $11,300. Vermont continues America East play on the road next Saturday, March 31 with a trip to play the Hartford Hawks.
