Senior midfielder Jon Phillips (Delta, B.C.) tied a career-high with five goals to pace the No. 4 seeded UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team in a 15-10 loss to top seed UAlbany in the America East semifinals on Thursday night at Casey Stadium. The River Hawks end their season at 8-8 overall, while the Great Danes improve to 13-2 overall and advance to the America East Championship Game. UMass Lowell finishes with a Div. I record eight victories, matching their win total from the previous two seasons combined. Freshman attackman Harry Morrill (Hyde Park, Mass.) recorded his first career hat trick in the losing effort. Phillips finished the night with a team-high 10 shots and seven shots on goal. Phillips finished his senior season with a career-high and team best 30 goals. The River Hawks stormed out to an an early 4-1 lead in the first quarter and held a 7-5 lead at halftime. The Great Danes scored 10 goals in the second half to secure the victory. Freshman goalie Hunter Braun (Hartland, Mich.) recorded 15 saves in his 14th consecutive start to end the season. It marked the final collegiate game for nine River Hawks, including attackmen Sean Tyrrell, Matt Balter (Albany, N.Y., along with midfielders Sam Klingsporn (Aloha, Ore.), Jon Phillips, Jared Zaniewski (Sandwich, Mass.), Brandon Luitwieler (Calgary, Alta.), Zack Schwartz (Huntington, N.Y.), Will Puduski (Westford, Mass.) and defender Bain Schroeder (Ellicott City, Md.).
