The game will take place at Klöckner Stadium on Tuesday and will be broadcast by ACC Network Extra and ESPN3. Originally scheduled to be played at 7 p.m., the game has been changed to 3 p.m. due to forecasted inclement weather. LAST TIME OUT Matt Paul provided a pair of goals for visiting Dartmouth, but St. John’s jumped out to a 5-0 lead and kept the Big Green at arm’s length en route to a 12-5 victory at DaSilva Memorial Field on Saturday afternoon. Jack Korzelius, George Prince and Liam O’Connell each scored a goal, while Ben Martin and Trevor Ballantyne had an assist apiece. In net, George Christopher made 12 saves. Two St. John’s (5-2) tallies within a minute started off the first quarter in the home team’s favor and, just over six minutes in, the Red Storm had a 3-0 advantage. Dartmouth’s (2-3) defense came alive after the third goal and kept St. John’s out of the net for the remaining 8:50. Will Randell and Paul gave the Green a good chance to get on the board but were stopped by goalie Matt Hanley. Two more markers early in the second gave the Red Storm a five-goal lead, but an unassisted goal by Prince just over five minutes in got the Big Green on the board. In the remaining six minutes, both teams scored a pair of goals: O’Connell and Korzelius found the back of the net in the span of a minute and a half and Dartmouth headed to the half down by four (7-3). Good defense and a trio of saves by Christopher kept St. John’s at bay for the first 10 minutes of the third. With four minutes to go, the Red Storm scored their eighth, but Paul’s sixth of the season with under two to play got the Big Green back within four (8-4). One more for the home team less than a minute later made it a 9-4 game. Three markers within a minute and a half – including Paul’s second of the half – gave the Red Storm an 11-5 advantage with over 10 minutes of action to go. Martin and David Gallagher were strong offensively and had some good chances, but both were stopped by Hanley. After keeping St. John’s off the board for almost 10 minutes, the Red Storm got one more to end the game (12-5). SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS Virginia enters Tuesday’s matchup with a 6-2 mark after dropping a 9-7 heartbreaker to No. 4 Notre Dame on Saturday. The team’s only other loss so far this season came against Syracuse a few weeks ago. Since then, the Cavaliers had defeated Manhattan and Stony Brook. Leading the team is Michael Kraus with 38 points (22G, 16A). LAST TIME AGAINST VIRGINIA On April 18, 2009, the Cavaliers had a 13-6 victory over the Big Green when the former was the second-ranked team in the country. Dartmouth’s lone win over Virginia came on April 9, 1938, when the Green had what may have been their only shutout, taking down the Cavaliers, 14-0. LEADING THE WAY Prince is still first in his rookie season with six goals and a team-leading nine goals for 15 points, while Martin leads the Big Green with nine tallies and, with his three helpers, is second with 12 points. O’Connell has scored two of the team’s six man-up tallies, Austin Meacham leads with 16 ground balls and Chris Bacotti has gone 8-18 at the X (.444). AND IN NET Christopher played all 60 minutes against St. John’s and ended up with a .500 save percentage. In 182 minutes, he has stopped 33 while allowing 35 for a .485 save percentage and 11.52 goals against average. Alex Burnley has played in three games and started two and has made 19 saves while allowing 24 goals for a .442 save percentage and 12.24 goals against average.
