ITHACA, N.Y. -- A five-goal Cornell run that included the entire third quarter allowed the home team to knock Harvard from the Ivy unbeaten ranks in a 15-11 Big Red win at Schoellkopf Field. Cornell moved into second place in the Ancient Eight standings in improving to 7-3 (3-1 Ivy), while Harvard dropped to 7-3 (2-1 Ivy) with the loss. Sophomore Jeff Teat was electric, setting a career high with eight assists and matching a personal-best with 12 points. The eight assists was one off the school record and moved him into eighth on the school's career list with 75. His 12 points was two off the school record and gives him three of the top eight single-game scoring totals in school history. Teat's offense prowess was impressive, but he was far from the lone reason the Big Red gained its fourth straight win. Jordan Dowiak and Jonathan Donville each secured hat tricks and Clarke Petterson had two goals and two assists in the win. Defensively, Jake Pulver had a pair of caused turnovers and two ground balls and Christian Knight had eight saves. Caelahn Bullen played the final two minutes and made a pair of saves. At the face-off X, Paul Rasimowicz won 19-of-30 restarts. Harvard used extra-man opportunities to its fullest, scoring five of its goals on the man-up. Morgan Cheek had two goals and three assists and Carney Mahon recorded a hat trick. Kyle Anderson also had a three-point day with two goals and an assist. Robert Shaw made 11 saves in goal in taking the loss. Cornell held a 40-37 shot advantage, though it was 34-19 entering the fourth with a five-goal lead that never dipped below that until Harvard's final goal with 15 seconds remaining. The Big Red dominated the ground ball battle (32-20) and was 13-of-14 on clears while causing four Harvard turnovers on the ride. COACH'S CORNER – PETER MILLIMAN Pretty happy with a big Ivy League victory. Our guys came to play knowing this was an important one for us. I think we fought hard and did what we needed to in order to secure the win. There was some good and some bad. Man-down has got to be better. We fouled too much. I though we turned the ball over a few time that were not great. But we were attacking their goal and moving the ball unselfishly and i thought we shot fairly well. At the end of the day, the heart the guys showed and the intensity to get the victory was what made it happen. NOTES TO KNOW • During its current four-game winning streak, Cornell is averaging 20 goals per game. • With his three goals, Jordan Dowiak now has 50 for his career, while Clarke Petterson moved up to 49 career goals. • For the fourth consecutive game, and ninth time this season, Cornell has held an opposing goalie below .500 percent, as Robert Shaw saved just .423 percent. • Paul Rasimowicz has now won at least .500 percent of his face-offs in seven straight games. • Rasimowicz posted a season-high ground balls (12) ad has picked up at least seven ground balls in in four consecutive contests. • Jonathan Donville's three goals match a career-high. • Cornell assisted on 12-of-15 goals (.800). • The Big Red has now won three straight games when ranked No. 13 in the USILA Coaches Poll, improving to 20-8 all-time when holding the 13th spot in the poll.
